BAMA BASEBALL EARNS SERIES WIN VS TOP RANKED GEORGIA

ALABAMA BASEBALL took 2 out of 3 games this weekend against top ranked GEORGIA @ SEWELL-THOMAS STADIUM. The tide clinched a series win against the bulldogs by sweeping a doubleheader Saturday which was played due to a Friday night rain out, before dropping the series finale on Sunday. BAMA opened the day winning game 1 9-5 thanks to a strong start from AUSTIN HYATT AND HOMERUNS BY VIN DIFASIO AND KENT MATHES.

GAME 1 BOX

THE TIDE won game 2 11-6 behind a strong start from pitcher ADAM MORGAN, and a trio of home runs from CODY TROTTER TAYLOR DUGAS AND BRANDON MAY. MORGAN, who pitched into the eighth inning allowing four runs while tallying up nine strikeouts.

GAME 2 STATS

ALANAMA lost an opportunity to sweep top ranked GEORGIA Sunday dropping the final game 10-8 to the bulldogs largely due to a 7 run second inning from the visiting team. THE TIDE rallied with 5 runs in the bottom of the 2ND inning to close the gap to 7-5 and took an 8-7 lead a few innings later as KENT MATHES hammered his NCAA leading 13th homer of the season. The DOGS would regain the lead in the sixth by scoring 2 unearned ruuns without collecting a hit before adding an insurance run in the seventh to hold on to a 10-8 victory spoiling the Tide's hopes for a series sweep.

THE TIDE will next face in state foe ALABAMA A & M in a 2 game mid-week series scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
