BAMA BASEBALL SERIES RECAP VS OLE MISS

BY NICK TAYLOR

DEL HOWELL

ALABAMA BASEBALL stormed out and defeated OLE MISS 19-6 on Sunday to avoid being swept this weekend. Kent Mathes, the nation's home run leader belted two homers to bring his season total to 15 & Del Howell pitched five scoreless innings to collect the win. Howell has now thrown 11 scorless innings while picking up 18 strikeouts in his only two starts this year after recovering from MONO at the beginning of the season. The tide lost 5-2 Saturday due to a lack of offensive production and a 5 run fifth inning by the rebels. ALABAMA lost the Friday game 8-7 in a sea-saw affair in that saw the tide enter the ninth inning with a 7-5 lead which they would fail to hold. The TIDE will play two mid-week games VS UAB. The 1st of the two games will be played Tuesday in TUSCALOOSA followed by a Wednesday contest @ REGIONS PARK FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE HOOVER MET. THE tide will then head to Gainsville for a weekend series VS THE FLORIDA GATORS...
