TIDE BASEBALL WELL REPRESENTED ON MLB DRAFT BOARD (ROUNDS 1-15)

The 2009 SEC Baseball Player of the Year, Kent Matthes, has been drafted by the Colorado Rockies. The right-fielder had a career year setting the University of Alabama single-season home run mark with 28 in 2009. Along with the home run mark, Matthes had 81 RBIs, hit .358, and had 73 hits. Kent was drafted 121st overall of the fourth round.

Catcher Vin DiFazio was also drafted in the 12Th round (364Th overall) by the Texas Rangers. DiFazio batted .329, hit 7 home runs, drove in 24 Rib's, and had 28 assists.

Pitcher Del Howell was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 15th round (466th overall.) Left-handed pitcher Howell, put together a 5-3 record, 68 strikeouts, and 1 complete game.

Pitcher Austin Hyatt was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 15th round (467th overall.) In 2009, Hyatt had an 8-3 record, 88 strikeouts, and 2 complete games.
