HYATT AND MATHES TEAM UP TO HELP EXTINGUISH FLAMES IN GAME 1 WHILE MORGAN COOLS OFF FLAME BATS IN GAME 2 TO COMPLETE DOUBLE HEADER SWEEP FOR BAMA

The Alabama baseball team defeated ILL-CHI 4-2 in game one and 20-4 in game two to capture a doubleheader sweep of the flames Saturday afternoon at Sewell-Thomas stadium. Austin Hyatt collected his 2nd win in as many starts as he threw seven strong innings alowing only 2 runs. All four bama runs in game 1 came courtesy of a pair of home runs; a three run shot by outfielder Kent Mathes in the sixth inning that put bama ahead 3-2. Alex Kubal added a solo shot in the seventh inning and Jimmy Nelson would secure the save to hold on to the win.


GAME ONE BOXSCORE

Freshman pitcher Adam Morgan tossed six innings allowing only one run against ILLINOIS-CHICAGO as the tide would cruise to a 20-4 rout of the flames in the nightcap of the doubleheader. Kent Mathes would add a solo homer in the nightcap to run his season total to six. Cody Trotter and first baseman Wes Henderson who entered the game in the fifth inning went 3-3 with a longball and 6 RBI. The tide's next game will take place Tuesday as they travel to TROY to battle their in state rivals the TROY TROJANS.
